TWO DIFFERENT FILES, but the same show... your choice (the AAC version sounds better):
MP3 format, 23.9 MB, 1:36:10. 34 kbps (VBR) bitrate, 32 kHz sample rate
AAC format (for iTunes and iPods), 23.1 MB, 1:36:10. 32 kbps bitrate, 32 kHz sample rate (with "bookmarking" for iTunes and iPods: if you stop midway, you can come back to where you left off... FYI, it might show up on your iPod in "Audiobooks").
We'll be taking another 2 week hiatus, hence another podcast so soon after the last one.
BY THE WAY, we're finally on iTunes Music Store! If you put "portafilter" or even "coffee" in the search field in the podcast area of iTunes Music Store, you should see us and be able to subscribe that way. NOTE: we have changed the podcast.xml feed to be a AAC (for iTunes and iPods) podcast feed. We're moving the MP3 feed to podcast2.xml, so if you don't want the AAC's, update your bookmarks and/or your newsfeed application.

Sigh... guys.
We don't allow swearing on the CG boards for several reasons.
- We work hard to maintain a "PG rating" for the website because of how we're listed throughout the Internet.
- Swearing for effect or whatever is something best left to kids in high school. Or me in public.
- Swearing degrades the conversations
- The community asked, early on, that hardcore swearing (not ass, pissed, that kind of thing, but the words you guys used in this podcast) be banned.
The other major rule, the one Jay is most likely to break, is the personal attack rule. Not allowed. Again, to keep the boards a pleasant place. And the community spoke on that (one of the main things people disliked about most forums).
As for strikes, Jay's on about his fifth now. And Nick is up to six or seven. I've told all the mods that the final decision on a strike to either of you.
Yeah, it's mostly fun and games, but I'll be honest with you guys. It also shows a bit of a lack of respect for what I've tried to set up, and what the community is like (forget coffee and espresso; forget amateur vs. pro for a moment) on CoffeeGeek. Nick, you peruse a LOT of forums outside of coffee and espresso, and you know how bad they can get. You know the personal attacks, the flame wars, the works. Those things are very much in the minimal on CG, because of the short list of rules and because of how the mods do their job.
For 98% of the readership and posters, the board is a friendly, easygoing place with little or no "intrusion" from the moderators, with no flame wars, no personal attacks, and newbies definitely welcome.
For 2% of the readership, there's a thought that the mods have it out for them, or that they are singled out, or that it's a sterile, or limiting place.
I'm sorry that the 2% feel that way, but I won't sacrifice he experience the other 98% are getting.
Anyway, that's my deal about that. :D
Ack. Typos and incomplete thoughts everywhere in the last post.
Lemme rewrite this paragraph about Jay and Nick:
As for strikes, I think Jay is up to his fifth now, or thereabouts, and Nick is up to six or seven. I've told the mods that any further strikes against either of you are only at my discretion - just point me to the offending link, and I'll review it.
Also, I said "the one Jay is most likely to break..." I meant to put a smiley at the end of that. :D
Anyway, my post came off much more serious than I intended. Sorry bout that.
you are so god damn right mark, coffeegeek is no place for that shit.
a.
Because of the profanity, tobacco smoke, and shit talking this may very well be the best fucking podcast yet. Plus, Katie sounds really fucking cute. I hope you guys hurry the fuck up and get another mother fucker like this one out. What a fucking diamond in the rough!
Have a great fucking day!
Sincerely the fuck yours,
Kyle
PS To Mark: Profanity NEVER degrades a discussion. No fucking way!

Great job guys, very enjoyable. Nick, I think you worry way too much about what that restaurant dude said. I think specialty coffee professionals should be able to express their opinions about coffee. I don't think restaurants should do espresso drinks, unless they have a dedicated barista doing it. Take the food that I do in my coffee shop, for example, bagels for breakfast, and deli sandwiches for lunch, that we make about 10 AM and then sell what we make. We don't make sandwiches to order. That's manageable; I know we sell a solid sandwich, no frills, but an adequate accompaniment to our GREAT coffee and espresso. Likewise, restaurants should only do brewed coffee, because if they get good coffee, good equipment, and don't let it sit to long, it's a great accompaniment to their great food.
Great Coffee Shops. I think balance is important. It starts with great coffee, of course, but it also must be comfortable. But not too comfortable. It must be stylish, but not pretentious. Nusic must be good, but not too loud, and accessible to a wide audience. Anyway...thanks for a great show, and keep up the good work!
