In my opinion, the experiment was successful. The call-in format worked to bring in listeners from diverse perspectives that otherwise wouldn't be heard.

(I guess I'll have to go out and buy a mic now.)

That was fun to listen to! Please consider trying another time for the next one, I think a lot of us Central timezone folks were on our way home when the skypecast was happening.

Jay -- you mentioned a good Mexican bakery in San Antonio. Do you remember the name?

the best mexican bakery in san antonio (imho) is michoacana on blanco road, just south of basse. NOT michoacana the grocery store. only the bakery.

I'll bet that Blanco knows better than I do, but the place I was referring to is called Mi Tierra Cafe y Panaderia in Market Square.

I visited San Antonio in 2000 for the Retail Tobacco Dealers Association trade show. It was a great time and I really enjoyed wandering around the streets of San Antonio. Of course, I mainly stayed in the downtown tourist areas but what good fun. Outside of Mi Tierra, a Mariachi band played a great version of "Si Nos Dejan" - so good, I had to learn how to play it when I got home.

Mi Tierra has a website:

Jay: you are so right. mi tierra is a s.a. landmark. they have a really good selection of stuff. lately their stuff hasn't been the freshest. and it's super expensive compared to the rest of town--because it's a beautiful tourist trap! but solid all around.
